How 'bout them apples?

Saturday we headed out with a group from church to a local apple orchard. The orchard donates a lot of apples to the food bank, and just needs some volunteers to pick them. That's where we came in.

The whole family had fun, and it was a nice experience. And yes, I made us all wear brown shirts. So I wanted us to coordinate while we picked up apples, that's not weird, is it?

FYI

I have found that this website is a pretty good use of my time.

Pocahontas and some new paint

Do you act out movies while you watch them? Because around here, we do.
Here's Jagger with his face painted, just like the Indians, and ready to fight.
And here is Cash, doing his best John Smith impression.
Incidentally, this is also the "before" photo for my little weekend project.

The old TV console got a little makeover. Likey?

Sometimes I worry about the example I am setting

...for my boys that is. Here's a quick story, you decide.

This morning I have been rearranging some things around the house, mainly packing up all the sea shells I have out and bringing out some more fallish decor... pumpkins, acorns, etc. Jagger and Cash are playing nicely in the background.

I am pretty happy until I hear Jagger say:
"Cash, let's dock the pirate ship so we can go to the pumpkin store. We need to decorate the pirate ship for fall!"

Is that weird? It's not sitting with me too well.

Birthday Parties Make Me Bonkers

But as a couple of my wise aunts always tell me, "It's not about Brei anymore."
Yep, Iwas stressed out, but the boys had fun.

Although I did have fun making the cake, I have to admit.

There were 11 kiddos all together.
I totally thought I was in the picture above and was smiling cheesily.

The boys got lots of good loot! Thank you friends!

Here's half of the gang before we left. Sadly, it was the best group shot I could get.
It was about 8:30, and I don't know about all the other kids, but my kids came home with a sugar high and stayed up really late, and then crashed hard!
...But that's how we party around here.

The boys' birthday party is tomorrow, and there's lots to be done.
For now though, at least their uniforms are ready.

Another day at the beach

We got back from Gulf Shores last Saturday, and the vacation didn't disappoint. I've been wanting to post about it since we've been home, but I've been dealing with a pile of laundry that is as tall as I am, restocking our completely empty kitchen, and sitting on the bathroom floor and clapping my hands more than I had planned (see post below). So finally, here are a few pics from the trip.

This is the whole crew. Us, Grant's brother, Justin, and his wife, Erin, and Grant's parents. We all roomed together in a large condo that had the beach in the front and pool in the back. It was a good set up for us.

The guys took one day to go deep sea fishing. They each came back with their limit of Red Snapper. They made for a pretty tasty dinner.

Jagger chillin' in the shade.

Grandma kept stealing snuggles from Cash.

Papa loved feeding the birdies.
It's a jellyfish, not a breast implant. That would be weird to catch one of those.
Jagger went crabbing every night.

That happy fam, our the last night on the beach.

King of the Throne

Big things are going on in our bathroom.

These things have been going on for two days in a row now.

We're all very thrilled!
