“I’m so glad I live in world where there are Octobers.”
-Anne of Green Gables
Cash - “Mom, Georgia Jane is 4. And I am 5. And how old are you?”
Me - “I’m 30.”
Cash - “And next time what will you be?”
Me - “Next year I will be 31.”
Cash, with huge eyes - “And then you will die!?!?”
Wha-wha. Hopefully I’ve got some time between 31 and death, but I guess you can’t be sure.
Here’s this little booger’s first day of school picture. It’s our last year at this little magical school. Tear.
It was a fun Friday night at our house.
And by fun, I mean loud, messy, hectic, etc. etc.
The boys celebrated number 7 and 5, Star Wars style,
Complete with 15 Jedi friends, light sabers, and an appearance by Darth Vader.
A thunderstorm coming through town threatened to ruin all our fun. But luckily it passed just in time for us to enjoy the mud outside.
I didn’t realize what a huge hit the potato sacks would be. The kids loved them.
No presents for the kids this time. Just lots of generosity from their friends to help out our food pantry at church.
Look at all the loot.
It’s been a whole-nuther year. The boys are now 5 and 7.
Jaggy started his 7th year with this birthday treat. It was a brownie, marshmallow, frosting combination. After he went to school, I realized his teacher was probably about to hate me.
He braves the driveway on his new wheels.
A couple days later it was Cash’s turn.
This is his kind of cake.
He likes to be called Mikey now. Ya know, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, duh.
Oh my sweet little crazy boys. One day they are babies, the next they are ninjas.
My older sister is an angel. Either that, or she is crazy. Why? Because she offered my boys a week of “Camp Berry.”
So, all summer we had been looking forward this, and last week it was finally time!
*did you catch the laundry folding part? sister is so funny.*
Also, isn’t she the bravest?
So, while Grant and I were home by ourselves, sleeping in, going to movies, and other such shenanigans, Alisha (and Jeffy) were being fun and responsible adults to all the cousins. As proof, she sent me these.
Funny that she never sent me a laundry picture. Hmm.
To end the week, we met up at a zoo to switch back kids. This was a family farm zoo with exotic animals. There were lions, tigers, bears, kangaroos, albino raccoons, and more. But the biggest thrill, was this little tiger cub that we could play with.
This is Sarge. He’s about 10 weeks old.
We all gathered round and watched him wrestle this big dog.
At one point he jumped up on Gavin and Cash. I don’t know about Gavin, but Cash is excited to go back to school and tell his friends he was attacked by a tiger. Too bad he didn’t leave a mark.
And now we’re all back in our own beds. Missing our cousins and all the cool stuff they got to do with them. Until next time, at least, when I think the name of the camp will have my last name instead.
We’re fresh off our annual Topsail Island vacation.
It was a good time with some good relatives, as always.
The boys embraced the ocean more than ever.
And loved exploring with cousin Haylie.
We managed to sneak in a birthday celebration.
And play with the sea creatures.
And get a few great shots of the family. That Haylie, by the way, is about the sweetest little girl one could ask for.
We even managed to throw in a little bit of education! These boys like big guns.
We were blessed by a great time with the family. The week was happy and safe, and we even got a *bonus* tan.
