Cash’s Little Tummy

cornell319

If you know our family well, you probably know that Cash is not much of an eater.  And it’s been getting worse the last few months.  He pretty much refuses most foods, most of the time.  Even the good stuff, even cupcakes!

I wish I had that problem.

But anyway, back to my point.  It has gotten to where I just don’t think he’s picky or that it is just a stage.  He has gone many days without eating anything, and I pour some Ensure down him just to give him the calories.  It’s not good.

So after my wishing-the-problem-away approach didn’t work, we’ve decided to try something else.   Tomorrow Cash is scheduled for a little procedure at the hospital to see what is going on.  It’s called a Barium Swallow.  Basically, he will have to swallow a solution, and an x-ray will track its path through him.  And we should be able to see if anything is wrong with his esophagus or stomach or whatnot.

He’ll also meet with an Occupational Therapist to look at his swallowing.

So here is to praying that we will find an answer/treatment/step-in-the-right-direction for this tummy problem.

Race Weekend

Nashville Half Marathon, Year 2

pee like a rock star edited

Here are the sisters and I pre-race.

We just thought that sign was funny, and picture worthy.  They were VIP Porta-Potties that we had the pleasure of using.

And here are the hubs and I post-race.

He beat me by exactly 20 minutes!  Jerk.  But in fairness to myself, I am fat and lazy and had to walk  and throw up  a little.

When Grant was done, his foot was bothering him quite a bit.  It turns out he gave himself a stress fracture somewhere down there.  Awesome.  His doctor told him he should be on crutches right now, but Grant refuses, and instead, will just take it easy and limp around for a couple weeks.

The rest of our weekend in Nashville was pretty nice.  We visited and shared meals with some old friends, treated ourselves to some cupcakes for Alisha’s Birthday, took naps,  sat in traffic, and popped blisters.  We love Nashville.

The plan is to be back again next year, and shave a little more time off that run.

Getting a facelift…

No, not me.  I wish.  Actually, I feel that 27 is a little too young for Botox and such… but my day will come.  Oh yes, my day will come.

No, actually it’s the old house that is getting a face lift.

For the past 3 summers I have been saying that we were gonna do this.  And at last, it’s happening!

The plan is to paint the siding something to the effect of this:

some color

Sherwin-Williams’ Svente Sage

and the doors and shutters something to the effect of this:

some color

Sherwin-Williams’  Tricorn Black

The trim will get some fresh white.

And the front door will have our house numbers on it.  Like this:

And our sad little flower beds will soon be lined with a small wall like this:

That last part will be a DIY thing, so, knowing us, it may or may not get done.

Even so, I am pretty pumped.  I hope it turns out as nice as I am imagining.  But I guess, we really do have nowhere to go but up….

If You're Wondering If I Want You To

Today in the car, I noticed Jagger was singing along to the latest Weezer song.

"Do you like this song?"
"YES! It's my favorite!!!!!!"
"It's by Weezer, you know. We can listen to it again when we get home."
"YES! I LOVE WEEZER!"

And then he just kept singing.

That's a boy after my own heart.

My Marriage is Five Years Old

it throws tantrums sometimes.  it throws fits.  sometimes it wants what isn’t best for it.  and sometimes it pushes buttons just because it can.

and more often then not, it’s logic does not make sense.

it prefers instant gratification over preparation.

but it is learning.  and trying hard.  it is loving and it is respecting.

and, like a five year old, my marriage is excited to grow up,

and get to do the cool things that all the big kids are doing.  learn.  travel.  experience.  give more.  love more.

my marriage looks ups to it’s parents and grandparents. it has had many good examples.

and it seems like being a 30 or 35 year old marriage is a long way off.  but it’ll come.  so long as it my marriage gets taken care of.  you know, staying healthy and safe.  going to bed on time.  and saying its prayers.

it has much to look forward to.

but for now, my marriage is happy being five years old.

(happy wedding birthday to grant and me!)
